Upon first inspection you might be forgiven for thinking this is a standard single arm design, but the MF215 departs from conventional wisdom through the use of a front mounted gimbal. The gimbal consists of a cup-shaped faceplate that allows the TV to tilt up and down, side to side and even rotate a full 360° in place. Basically you can position the TV on its side or even turn it upside down. For the most part it works pretty well, although the larger, heavier TVs can be a challenge. Too little torque and the gimbal can slip, causing the TV to tilt forward. If you have a built-in DVD player on one side of your TV this can result in the TV leaning to the heavier side as the joint cannot produce enough tension. Unlike many other wall mounts, Sanus were considerate enough to include a separate VESA mount plate to handle larger mounts. The standard plate can fit 75mmx75mm and 100mmx100mm, the larger can accommodate 200mmx100mm and 200mmx200mm. The plates form part of the front gimbal and are attached with a single screw. In operation the mount moves smoothly with little noticeable slack. You get a full 15" extension and the profile is 3.5" when folded. There is no way to lock the arms in position but you can adjust the tension to make things stiffer. If you need full multi-axis movement with single stud installation the Sanus Vision Mount MF215 is up to the task providing you limit the size of your TV.
